"Stray Cat Strut (With David Cousino, Shawn Stanley, & Erik Aylesworth)" was recorded at McCutcheon Music on November 14th, 2011. We recorded the song live with no overdubs. David Cousino played Guitar (right side), Shawn Stanley played Bass, Eric Aylesworth played Drums, & I (James Murrell) played Guitar (left side). The whole band wrote the arrangement on the spot. It is the 10th song that I have completed for my new album "Jazz Tent Revival".

"Stray Cat Strut" was written by Brian Setzer from the band The Stray Cats. The song was on the Stray Cats' debut album "Stray Cats", released in 1981 in the UK. In the US, the song was first released in 1982 on "Built for Speed". When I was a teenager the Stray Cats were my favorite band. I had all their records. I always thought that "Stray Cat Strut" would work arranged as a straight ahead jazz tune & it does very well!
